If there's one smoothie that screams "vacation in a glass," it's this one. My pina colada smoothie is my go-to when I need a tropical escape, but still have laundry to fold and lunchboxes to pack. With frozen pineapple, banana, coconut milk, Greek yogurt, and a splash of honey, it's creamy, fruity, and ready in minutes. No plane ticket required.
As a busy mom, mornings are chaotic enough, so I stick to just five ingredients for maximum flavor with zero fuss. If you're on a smoothie kick, try my tropical pineapple mango smoothie or our OG mixed berry smoothie, both made with freezer staples and totally kid friendly. Bonus: this one's make ahead freezer-friendly too.

Ingredients

- Greek Yogurt: Plain or coconut-flavored both work great. Want to go dairy-free? Sub in a coconut milk-based yogurt.
- Coconut Milk: The canned kind is my favorite here. Shake it up well before opening!
- Frozen Pineapple and Banana: Buy frozen pineapple chunks at any grocery store and keep them as part of your stocked freezer stash. When you have over ripe bananas, peel and freeze them on a baking tray. Once frozen add them to a zip top bag and keep in the freezer to use as needed.
- Coconut Flakes: If you like a little texture to your smoothie, add in the coconut flakes while blending. Or save them for a garnish at the end.
How to Make a Pina Colada Smoothie
Here's how to whip up this delicious smoothie in just a few minutes:

Add Ingredients to Blender: Add the coconut milk, followed by Greek yogurt, frozen pineapple, and banana. If your blender needs a little help with frozen ingredients, start with the liquid on the bottom.

Blend It Smooth: Turn your blender on low at first, gradually increasing to high speed. Blend for about a minute or until the texture is ultra-smooth. If you have a high-speed blender like a Vitamix, use the tamper to push the ingredients down as needed.

Blending Tip: If the smoothie is too thick, add a little extra milk. For an even creamier smoothie, use less liquid.
Variations
- Add Greens: A handful of spinach or kale blends in easily. The color changes, but the tropical flavor stays strong.
- Go Nuts: Add a handful of almonds or cashews to make the smoothie more filling. Blend them for a minute first to make sure they fully incorporate into the other ingredients.
- Grown-Up Version: Add a splash of coconut rum to turn this smoothie into a frozen pina colada you'll want on repeat.
- Smoothie Bowl Style: Use less coconut milk to make it thick enough for a spoon. Top with banana slices, pineapple chunks, and toasted coconut.

Change up the Fruits
There are a ton of flavors that give tropical vibes when making smoothies. Here are some of our favorites:
- Mango Banana smoothie
- Mango Pineapple
- Strawberry Pineapple
- Cherry Banana
Mom Hack: Use up the baby food puree cubes that you have in your freezer. Add frozen mango puree, blueberry puree or strawberry puree to jazz up any smoothie.
Make Ahead & Storage Tips
There are two ways I keep smoothie mornings easy:
- Freeze & Reheat: Make a big batch, pour into mason jars (leave a little room at the top), and freeze. Thaw in the fridge overnight or microwave for a minute, stir, and enjoy.
- Smoothie Packs: Freeze Greek yogurt in portions (I use SouperCubes), then add to bags with frozen fruit. When it's smoothie time, just dump into the blender with coconut milk and go.
