If the vanilla pudding pie is the reliable crowd-pleaser, this chocolate pudding pie version is its more dramatic, chocolate-obsessed cousin. Same four ingredients, same one bowl, same under-15-minutes situation, but with an Oreo cookie crust and rich chocolate filling, it feels a little more special. This is the one I pull out when I need a serious chocolate fix or when last-minute guests are showing up and I need something that takes just minutes to make.
This is part of my whole no bake pudding pie lineup; vanilla, lemon, banana cream, butterscotch, and pistachio. Same easy method every time, just pick your flavor.

Key Ingredients

- Instant chocolate pudding mix: I've only tested this with Jell-O instant chocolate pudding in the 3.4 oz box. If you use a bigger box or a different brand, you may need to adjust the amount of heavy cream to get the right consistency.
- Heavy cream: This is what gives the filling its light, almost mousse-like texture and helps it hold its shape once it's chilled. Use dairy milk only, instant pudding won't set properly with anything else.
- Oreo cookie crust: Store-bought is totally fine and what I use most of the time. If you want to make your own, just crush a sleeve of Oreos, mix with melted butter, and press into a pie pan. You could also swap in a graham cracker crust if that's what you have on hand, use the same method I use in my 7-layer bars.
- Toppings: Totally optional, but shaved chocolate, a dollop of whipped cream, or crushed Oreos on top make it look like you really went for it.
Flavor Variations
- Swap the pudding flavor: This exact method works with any pudding flavor. Butterscotch, pistachio, and white chocolate are all great in an Oreo crust.
- Swap the crust: Try a graham cracker crust with cheesecake pudding for a no bake chocolate cheesecake situation. Genuinely so good.
- Want something completely different? Try my lemon pudding pie same technique, light and zesty flavor. Perfect after a day outside when you want something cool and bright instead of rich and decadant.
- Peanut butter version: Spread a thin layer of peanut butter directly on the Oreo crust before adding the chocolate filling, then top with crushed peanuts. That's basically a peanut butter cup in pie form and I will not apologize for it.
How to make a chocolate pudding pie

- Step 1: Add the pudding mix and heavy cream to a large mixing bowl. Start slow so you don't end up with chocolate powder everywhere, then beat until thick, creamy, and fully combined. You're looking for that thick buttercream consistency, that's when you know it's ready.
- Step 2: Pour the filling into your Oreo crust..
- Step 3: Smooth the top of the whipped pudding and add optional toppings.
- Step 4: Add your toppings, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Make ahead and leftover storage tips
Make the filling all the way through but hold off on adding it to the crust. Scoop it into an airtight container, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface (this prevents a skin from forming), seal, and refrigerate for up to 3 days. When you're ready to serve, smooth it into the crust, add your toppings, and you're done.
Leave it right in the pie pan, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for up to 5 days. It won't last that long. Don't freeze it. The texture won't survive.

No Bake Chocolate Pudding Pie (3-Ingredient)
Ingredients
- 2 boxes instant chocolate pudding (3.4-3.9 oz package)
- 4 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 premade chocolate pie crust
- ½ cup crushed oreos (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Pour the instant chocolate pudding mix in a medium sized mixing bowl. To that, add the heavy whipping cream.
- With a hand mixer, start mixing slowly at first (so you don't get pudding mix powder everywhere) and then once the two ingredients are combined, beat until you get a light and fluffy pudding mixture.
- Put the chocolate pudding mixture into the prepared pie crust. Smooth the top and the top with crushed sandwich cookies, whipped cream, chocolate shavings or anything else you can dream of.
- If you aren't enjoying it right away, store in the fridge until you are ready to eat.
