My oldest kiddo has gotten into baking, and I wanted to start her off with something foolproof that turns out great every time. This 3-ingredient blueberry dump cake was the answer. Made with just a can of blueberry pie filling, the cake mix, and butter. No mixing, no mess, just dump, bake, and enjoy!

TL;DR
- This 3-ingredient blueberry dump cake is as easy as it gets, just dump, bake, and enjoy.
- Swap fillings (cherry, apple, pumpkin) or cake mix flavors (butter, chocolate, white) for endless combos.
- A family favorite dessert right alongside my Pumpkin Pie Dump Cake and Cherry Dump Cake.
- Perfect for baking with kids, no flour explosions or sticky counters required.
- Cake mixes keep baking foolproof, just like my kid-approved 2 Ingredient Pumpkin Bread and 3 ingredient strawberry cookies.

Ingredients

- Blueberry pie filling - You'll find this near the canned fruit section at the grocery store. It's a classic filling you'll find at potlucks all summer long. If you want to make your own filling, that will work too, you'll need about 3 cups of homemade filling.
- Cake mix - A box of yellow cake mix is my go to. I'm partial to Duncan Hines, but use what you have in your pantry.
- Butter - Melted so that you can pour it over all the cake mix, ensuring a golden, buttery crust every time.
Make The Blueberry Dump Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.

Dump the blueberry pie filling into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the blueberry filling, making sure to cover the entire surface.

Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the blueberry filling is bubbling around the edges.
Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
A Few Simple Variations
- Add a citrus twist: A little lemon zest sprinkled over the blueberry pie filling brightens up the flavors.
- Mix in fresh berries: If you have fresh blueberries on hand, toss a handful on top of the pie filling before adding the cake mix.
- Try a different fruit: Swap out the blueberry pie filling for cherry, apple, or peach for a different take on this quick summer dessert.

Storing your dump cake
If you have leftovers (which isn't likely), cover the pan with plastic wrap. It can sit on the counter for up to two days or be refrigerated for up to five days. Add a scoop to your blueberry overnight oats for a decadent morning treat, or just warm it up in the microwave for a few seconds before going in for leftovers!
This dump cake with cake mix is best enjoyed fresh so I don't suggest making it ahead of time.
