This banana puree is simply delicious and a great stage 1 puree to introduce to your baby. The sweet taste of a just overripe banana, mashed or pureed, is easy for babies to eat and full of nutrients their bodies need.
Peel the banana and put into a small bowl. Mash the banana to the desired consistency, leaving it a little chunkier for older babies.
Pureed in Blender
For a creamy banana puree, toss the bananas into the blender. Puree until you have a smooth consistency.
This puree does turn a brown color when stored and frozen. Either use immediately, mix with another puree or freeze in silicone ice cube trays to prevent this. The puree is still okay to eat, even if it changes colors.
Notes
If not using immediately, this puree can be stored in the refrigerator with plastic wrap pressed on top and placed in a sealed dish. It can also be frozen in cubes and thawed in refrigerator. If you want to make a bigger batch of banana puree to freeze, simply double or triple the recipe and use a high speed blender to get it to the consistency you desire quickly.
